Child & Adolescent Concerns
Age-appropriate evaluation and care for young people, with respect for family roles and school needs.
You're not alone — help is available
Children and teens face unique pressures — school, friendships, family changes, social media, and growing independence. Emotional and behavioral changes can be hard to interpret, for young people and for parents.
Age-appropriate psychiatric care considers development, family roles, culture, and school needs, with parents and guardians as partners in care.
What it can look like
Everyone's experience is different. If several of these persist and affect daily life, an evaluation can help.
Ongoing changes in mood, behavior, or sleep
Difficulty focusing or keeping up in school
Withdrawal from friends, family, or activities
Frequent worry, irritability, or outbursts
Changes in appetite or energy
Concerns raised by teachers or caregivers
A thoughtful, personalized approach
Family-centered evaluation
Hearing from the young person and their parents or guardians.
Developmentally appropriate
Assessment tailored to age, development, and life stage.
Collaboration
With permission, coordination with schools and other providers.
Careful treatment
Strategies and support first, with medication considered carefully and monitored closely when appropriate.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room. This website and contact form are not monitored for emergencies.
Questions about child & adolescent concerns
Do parents attend the appointment?
For children, a parent or guardian participates in the visit. For teens, time is often shared between the teen and the parent, with privacy respected.
What ages do you see?
Care is available for children and adolescents as well as adults and older adults.
Can you help with school concerns?
Yes. When appropriate, documentation can support school accommodations, and coordination with the school can occur with permission.
